  The Lovers II By René Margritte, Paris 1928 The way that the figures are covered by a veil adds a sense of mystery and ambiguity, allowing it to be anyone. The juxtaposition of the soft fabric with the rigid, structured background heightens feelings of separation and yearning. The restrained color scheme and hidden expressions stir a mix of emotional curiosity and wistfulness, drawing viewers into a hauntingly evocative atmosphere. When I see René Magritte’s  The Lovers II  I think of the suffocation of love and how yet, even if love will completely ruin us, we will still blindly give into it. I have always loved this piece, I have even thought of getting it as a tattoo at some point. Introduction paragraph:  Hello! My Name is Gwyneth O'Rourke, and I am a freshman at the University of Alaska Fairbanks! I grew up in Denver, Colorado.
